Water Supply

Barackpore’s water supply system was started by PHE Department, Government of west Bengal in 1969 who handed over the responsibility of 4 Deep Tube wells and 4 overhead Reservoirs to the Municipality in 1976. The system has now been expanded to 26 Deep tube wells and 104 KM of pipeline. Largest expansion occurred during 1980’s under World Bank’s CUDP Programme.

Supply of potable water to the citizen is one of the primary services of this Municipality. Reaching drinking water to its 1,44,331 citizen is a huge task and is done by 25 pump houses raising ground water through deep tube wells from 500 ft depth of the aquifer and by supplying 18.48 Ml. gallons of drinking water per day through 104 KM of pipe line network spread like cobweb in the Municipal area.
